Gilt a été enseigné en 1983 par le Maître Lee Ungno (이응노) ou Ung-No Lee.
Voici parmi les premières peintures en Sumi-e réalisées par Gilt (Gilles Thiebault) en 1983 avec le Maître Ung-No Lee.
En 1983, j’avais 29 ans et derrière moi 20 ans d’art traditionnel.
Ce fut donc un bouleversement :
une nouvelle façon de penser (par la non-pensée).
La respiration, le geste, la pratique avec le corps, tout est si différent dans la façon d’être avec le sujet à peindre.
2023 est la rencontre avec Dôshin Ines Igelnick (nonne zen) Calligraphie chinoise et japonaise lors d’une sessin au Parc de Maulévrier.
Dôshin, le groupe, le Parc de Maulévrier, tout était parfait.
Un environnement magnifique et une ambiance harmonieuse qui nous permet un état méditatif propre à la création.
Mais c’est également pratiquant le Zen et en étudiant l’oeuvre de Shitao,
que Gilt a ressenti ce lien entre l’Asie et l’Occident et l’Art de l’unique trait du pinceau.

Here are among the first Sumi-e paintings created by Gilt (Gilles Thiebault) in 1983 with Master Ung-No Lee.
In 1983, I was 29 years old and had 20 years of traditional art behind me.
So it was an upheaval :
a new way of thinking (through non-thinking).
The breathing, the gesture, the practice with the body, everything is so different in the way of being with the subject to be painted.
2023 is the meeting with Dôshin Ines Igelnick (Zen nun) Chinese and Japanese calligraphy during a session at the Parc de Maulévrier.
Dôshin, the group, the Parc de Maulévrier, everything was perfect.
A magnificent environment and a harmonious atmosphere which allows us a meditative state specific to creation.
But it was also practicing Zen and studying the work of Shitao
that Gilt felt this link between Asia and the West and the Art of the single stroke of the brush.
