Shitao « Vague de Pierre » 1642 – 1707
a endossé l’habit de moine chán (zen) dans sa jeunesse et est surnommé moine Citrouille-amère.
En chinois : 苦瓜和尚
Shitao, un artiste peintre chinois de la dynastie Qing, est considéré comme l’un des plus grands peintres chinois.
Il exprime parfaitement le geste du peintre et l’Art du trait du pinceau dans son traité intitulé : « Propos sur la peinture du moine Citrouille-amère ».
L’Unique trait du Pinceau est à l’origine de toutes choses, la racine de tous les phénomènes.
